Hi, Myself and a friend will be travelling to California next month to purchase a 1960s vw campervan. We will be driving it to the shipping port to export it back to the uk. However, my dad wants to gift me a car at the end of the week. For this car, I'm going to want an insurance policy. I'm currently 20 years old, and I'm very much aware that insurance policies are MUCH more expensive for young male drivers as opposed to young female drivers . Thus, I ask, is the gender the insurance company uses linked to my driver's license or some other form of ID (as I really can't change anything else, save my passport on a temporary basis yet). If I got the marker changed, would my quote decrease (I would probably go with USAA as I'm eligible given my dad is a Navy Vet)? Thanks!

Ok, my car has been broken for like 5 or 6 months already. It hasn't been driven at all. Right now it has an expensive fix. I was waiting for my taxes to fix it but I had my identity stolen so I may not get my taxes until December, if even that soon. Anyways, long story short...it's an expensive fix, about $2000...which I don't have. I've been paying for both the car and the insurance every month with the car not even moving. I know I have to continue paying the car. I'm going to verify with my bank, but I'd prefer not to get them involved until I have some details. Is it possibly to take my car completely out of circulation by turning in the license plate and then stop paying insurance until I fix it? I assume theres no need to have insurance if the car doesn't have a tag so it can't be driven. I live in Florida, if that changes anything.
